Abstracts

The Call for Abstracts is now closed.

Closing date for receipt of abstracts: Monday 23 August 2010.

Providing an abstract is the entry point for presentations to be made at the 11th National Rural Health Conference.

The main focus is on abstracts relating to original research reports. However we also seek abstracts for interactive workshops, posters, multimedia presentations and arts and health displays.

Abstracts in all categories will be selected according to originality and interest, clarity of presentation, scientific validity, potential policy significance and the degree to which they fit the Conference’s themes. Abstracts with a multidisciplinary theme or content will be particularly welcome.

Types of presentations for which abstracts can be submitted

For each abstract, authors are asked to indicate the type of presentation for which it is submitted, from the following six options:

  • a non-refereed paper in the general papers stream;

  • a refereed paper for the academic stream;

  • an interactive workshop;

  • a poster;

  • a multimedia presentation; and/or

  • an arts and health presentation.

Abstracts should address one of the Conference Themes and be prepared according to the Guidelines for Abstracts <pdf>.

All papers presented at the Conference and workshop reports will be published in the Conference proceedings. Papers presented in the refereed stream will be eligible for inclusion in the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR) Higher Education Research Data Collection (HERDC).

Conditions relating to abstracts

  • Except in the case of multimedia and arts presentations, abstracts should relate to previously unpublished work.

  • The file name of the document uploaded should be the same title that is on your abstract.

  • Author names should not appear in the abstract itself: all abstracts will go through a ‘blind’ selection process (without author or affiliation details).

  • Submitting an abstract does not guarantee that your paper, poster or presentation will be selected for the Conference.

  • Authors may submit more than one abstract.

Assistance is available to first-time presenters in any category with their preparation of an abstract and, if appropriate, with their paper and full presentation. For further information and assistance, contact speakers@ruralhealth.org.au or phone 02 6285 4660.

Selection of abstracts is expected to be finalised and successful authors notified before the end of September 2010.
